Hospital beds are becoming increasingly smarter, with a wide range of integrated features that enhance comfort and safety for patients. Healthcare professionals need to know a patient's weight in order to administer the appropriate amount of medication, fluids or anesthesia. For health monitoring, it's also important to know whether they are gaining or losing weight, especially with premature infants. As weight changes are an important parameter of a patient's condition, the ability to constantly weigh a bedbound patient is highly valuable. More and more medical facilities have upgraded to hospital beds with an integrated weighing scale for real time weight monitoring. A medial bed weighing system normally consists of a signal summing box, a digital readout and four load cells. The load cells most commonly used for hospital beds are planar beam and shear beam type, planar beam sensors are usually mounted between the lower and the upper bedframe while shear beam transducers are typically installed between each caster wheel and its attachment point beneath the bed. LCS offers C3 accuracy class shear beam load cells which are made from stainless steel, temperature compensated and environmentally sealed for hospital bed weighing scales.
